Decanter World Wine Awards is a top-class British wine magazine that is eagerly awaited by wine lovers and wine connoisseurs every month. It is dedicated to news from the wine industry with reports, wine descriptions and editorials on all things wine.
The Decanter wine magazine is read in more than 90 countries and has established itself as the number one wine magazine over the years. Decanter's popularity continues to grow and has gained even greater reach through its online presence at decanter.com, owned by IPC media. Michael Broadbent, who has been involved in the development of Decanter magazine since its inception in 1975, developed Decanter's rating scale, which for many years was based on a five-star system.
However, this traditional system was replaced in July 2012 by a more modern composite of a 20-point and a 100-point rating system.
95-100 points All Gold Medal winners are tasted again separately and the winners are awarded the Platinum Medal and the Best Value Platinum Medal, at a price below £15. 95-100 points All Platinum winners are tasted again to determine Best in Show.
