Vineyard Keermont
At Keermont, it has been our aim to create wines that reflect the natural wonders of this picturesque and almost magical place in every drop. Together with their small but dedicated team, owner Mark Wraith and winemaker Alex Starey, they create award-winning wines such as the Keermont Syrah, the Keermont Red Blend and the white Cuvée Keermont Terrace.
Keermont is blessed with a variety of incredibly special and unique growing sites high in the picturesque Blaauwklippen Valley, also known as Paradyskloof (paradise valley). The philosophy of the winery is much more natural than scientific, so avoid chemical fertilizers and pesticides as much as possible and irrigate as little as possible. Keermont uses only grapes from its own vineyards in the production of its high-quality wines.
Keermont also follows a gentle and natural approach to the fermentation and maturation process in the winery and production processes. This is the only way we believe to be able to transfer and express the true essence of the grapes and the terroir in the wine. The wines are left to spontaneous fermentation, i.e. no commercial yeast cultures are used to initiate the fermentation process, but only naturally occurring wild yeast already present in the environment. An approach that pays off - so it rains a shower of stars from South Africa's most renowned wine guide John Platter.
