The Keermont Pondokrug Cabernet Franc enchants with a deep violet color and pink reflections, showcasing an aromatic profile of traditional Fynbos herbs, ripe strawberries, and delicate red fruit candies. The palate reveals itself with rich red fruit notes, enhanced by a hint of effervescence, cloves, and blackcurrants. Structured with firm tannins and a vibrant acidity, the wine finishes with a long, dry farewell, showcasing its exceptional craftsmanship.
Pondok Rug, a mountain ridge, derives its name from a simple shepherd’s hut (Pondok).
The grapes for this premier Cabernet Franc were hand-picked and vinified separately according to vineyard block and ripeness. Fermentation was conducted naturally in open fermenters. After fermentation, the wine aged in French barriques for 20 months and was bottled unfiltered by hand.
