Wendy Appelbaum's Announcement About Changes at De Morgenzon
2020 was a tough year for the world, for South Africa, and for De Morgenzon. Despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, the year proved successful for De Morgenzon. Our employees remained loyal, and we successfully maintained operations.
Upon careful consideration, Adam Mason decided to leave his formal position to embark on his entrepreneurial journey. We value the time Adam spent with us and wish him all the best in his new venture.
While we are saddened by Adam's departure, we are excited to welcome Alastair Rimmer as the new CEO and winemaker at De Morgenzon, albeit delayed due to a mountain biking accident where he suffered a broken collarbone. Alastair is confident in his tasting and drinking abilities with his left arm.
He is eager to take on the responsibility of ensuring sustainable growth and profitability in a progressive wine business.
Alastair completed his studies at Stellenbosch University with a BSc in Oenology and Viticulture. Before returning to SOUTH AFRICA, he accumulated over a decade of international experience in wine production.
Previously serving as a lead winemaker at Kleine Zalze, Alastair was recognized for his outstanding performance as Winery of the Year 2021 by John Platter.
The Appelbaum family and all team members at De Morgenzon warmly welcome Alastair and Kirsty.
