Swartland - South Africa's wine-growing region for wines full of character
The Swartland wine region in South Africa was traditionally a wheat-growing area, but today it is worth discovering the characterful wines that are increasingly attracting international attention. The green vineyards stretch up along the mountains of Piketberg, Porterville, Riebeek and Perdeberg and along the mountain river, making the Swartland one of the most exciting regions in the country.
In the past, the Swartland mainly produced robust, full-bodied red wines. Only recently have more quality wines been produced here, including first-class wines in the style of the Ports. The district includes the two districts of Malmesbury and Riebeekberg. Traditionally, the vines were trained using bush pruning, but wire frame training has now also become widespread.

The Swartland Revolution - a turning point in South African viticulture
The so-called "Swartland Revolution" or "Swartland Independent Producers" (SIP) initiated a fundamental change in South African viticulture. Originally launched in the late 2000s, this movement permanently changed the Swartland wine landscape and put the region on the international map.
