The Thistle and Weed Duwweltjie OVP Chenin Blanc captivates with an alluring bouquet of peach, grapefruit zest, and citrus, complemented by classic notes of golden pineapple. The palate is light yet richly layered, featuring a creamy texture upheld by a distinct and sturdy backbone.
Named after the Duwweltjies (Tribulus terrestris) that cling to your shoes in the vineyard, this wine recalls memories of paths traveled and those yet to be embarked upon. Hailing from a historic bush vine vineyard planted in 1961 at the northwestern edge of the Muldersvlei basin in Paarl, this Chenin Blanc reflects a unique terroir.
The grapes were gently whole-bunch pressed and fermented naturally in older French oak barrels, using only free-run juice. During fermentation, the lees were stirred regularly for the first month, followed by aging on the lees for 10 months before bottling unpolished and unfiltered.
