The Mullineux Schist Syrah is a captivating wine, showcasing aromas of black pepper, ripe dark fruits, violets, and a whisper of warm spices like nutmeg. On the palate, it offers a luxurious fullness complemented by smooth tannins that lend structure and create a beautifully balanced acidity. Its finish is fresh, persistent, and velvety, fulfilling every expectation of a distinguished Syrah. A true artisanal creation!
The grapes for this Syrah are sourced from a distinguished single vineyard block, where 17-year-old vines flourish on the stony schist soils of the Kasteelberg, truly embodying its remarkable terroir.
Wines crafted from a singular terroir present a sincere sense of place. Each label carries the proud name of the estate, paying tribute to each winegrower.
Fermentation began with natural/wild yeast and lasted about ten days, followed by four weeks of skin contact and aging for 12 months in 500L barrels (25% new oak), then nine months in used foudres.
