The Fairview Petite Sirah 2022 impresses with its inky depth and seductive aromas. Notes of vanilla, plum, and black cherry arise, inviting you to explore its complexity. It delivers a beautifully smooth and creamy mouthfeel, with robust tannins presenting intriguing flavors of black olives and delicate spices. Petite Sirah, or Durif, is a unique varietal that originated from the crossing of Syrah and Peloursin, first introduced by François Durif in France in 1880. Its rich color and superb tannin structure make it excellent for blending. While it flourishes in California and Australia, it was first introduced to South Africa by Charles Back, who recognized its potential during his travels. The warm South African climate proves ideal for growing Petite Sirah, making this wine the exclusive version available in the country.
Die Trauben für den Fairview Petite Sirah wurden mit großer Sorgfalt handgelesen. Die Beeren wurden anschließend am Sortiertisch mit jeder Menge Know-how für den weiteren Produktionsverlauf ausgelesen, um sicherzustellen, dass keine bereits verletzten oder von der Sonne verbrannten Beeren in die Produktion einlaufen. Die Fermentation fand in offenen französischen Fässern statt (foudre), woraufhin die Traubenschalen anschließend sanft in der Korbpresse gepresst wurden. Der Wein reifte 20 Monate lang zu 60% in neuer französischer Eiche, zu 10% in neuer amerikanischer Eiche und der restliche Anteil reifte in zweit- bzw. drittbefüllten Fässern aus französischer und amerikanischer Eiche.
