Rugby World Cup and South Africa
Last week, the atmosphere at the Cape was electrifying. The final match was set: can the "Boks" defend their title? Rugby is a passion here, and every school has a team. The final score is well known: 12 to 11 for the Boks - a thrilling match you have to watch!
Public Viewing at Eagle's Nest
For some individuals in our Eagle's Nest Project in Grabouw, who could not experience this special moment, we organized a small celebration. Around 30 community members attended, celebrating with snacks and beers. The gratitude was overwhelming. We strive to ensure that such moments are accessible to those often excluded, supported by our partnership with Lebenslinien e.V..
Annandale, the Winery with a Sporting Heritage
A smooth transition leads us to Annandale, linked to rugby through Hempies Du Toit, a former national player and now winemaker.
The History of Annandale
The estate dates back to 1688 and was established by the Dutch East India Company. Annandale is located in the Golden Triangle, famous for its wines.
Originally known as Brakelsdal, the farm gained recognition after World War II for its horse care. Only since Hempies' acquisition in 1996 has the focus returned to wine.
Hempies Du Toit
Hempies, a fifth-generation family heritage, believes in natural winemaking without interventions and ages in oak barrels.
Ultimately, the boutique estate Annandale reflects the connection to nature and the passion for wines that one must experience.
