Lomond is situated on the Agulhas Plain, near the southern tip of Africa and just a few kilometres from Gansbaai. The vineyards are within sight of the ocean and exposed to cooling maritime winds. This cool climate is a defining element of the character of Lomond’s wines.
But it is not only the sea that makes Lomond special. The vineyards lie on the slopes of Ben Lomond and extend across a remarkable variety of different soil formations. Lomond works with up to 18 distinct soil types, each giving individual vineyard sites their own character.
These unique conditions make Lomond a fascinating example of South African cool-climate wines. The wines combine freshness, elegance and depth while expressing a clear sense of place.
