The Meerlust Merlot 2020 captivates with its lively violet color, complemented by a ruby rim, offering a seductive bouquet of dark fruits like mulberries and cherries, enhanced by subtle aromas of dark chocolate, tobacco, and cocoa. On the palate, it reveals richness and juiciness, lifted by refreshing acidity, showcasing a gentle, elegant character with mineral length. The contribution of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot adds remarkable complexity to the wine.
Nach der Ernte von Hand wurden die Trauben sorgfälltig sortiert und in Edelstahltanks fermentiert mit tägliche Remontage zur schonende Extraktion. Ein Tein des Weins wurde vor dem Pressen drei Wochen lang auf der Haut vergoren. Malolaktische Gärung fand in sogenannten Hogsheads, in diesem Fall 300 l. Fässer aus französischer Eiche statt. Vor der Abfüllung reifte der Wein anschließend für 17 Monate in französischer Neverseiche, wovon 50% Neu.
