Information about "De Grendel Rubáiyát 2020"
The De Grendel Rubáiyát presents itself with an intense red colour in the glass and captivates the nose with a subtly savoury bouquet of tea leaves, wild fynbos vegetation, red berries and plums. The palate is clean and lush with remarkable concentration and stunning intensity. Its finely textured tannins make for a wonderfully full-bodied and flavourful wine with a long-lasting mineral finish.
The Rubáiyát is De Grendel's flagship wine and was first produced in 2006. It is a Bordeaux-style cuvée consisting of a combination of four grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. It was named after Omar Khayyam's exquisite collection of 1,000 Persian love poems from the 10th century. Each vintage bears a different quatrain from the poem on the label, hence the blend of four grape varieties.
