In a captivating deep ruby hue, the Zandvliet Hill of Enon Small Berry Shiraz reveals a rich tapestry of blueberries, licorice, and dark chocolate. These enticing aromas carry through to a full-bodied palate, showcasing nuanced oak notes alongside hints of plum, cigar box, and chocolate, finishing with a lush, silky texture.
The grapes are sourced from a distinctive terroir characterized by remarkably small berries, achieving exceptional ripeness ten days prior to adjacent vineyards. These concentrated grapes were meticulously hand-harvested to produce this outstanding Shiraz. Zandvliet is synonymous with 'Shiraz,' as it was one of the first estates to bottle this varietal in the renowned Robertson Valley Wine Route.
The exceptional Shiraz grapes underwent crushing and a three-day cold soak at a controlled 10°C before fermentation commenced at 25-30°C. The malolactic fermentation occurred at 18°C, followed by 18-24 months of maturation in a mix of second-fill French and American oak barrels.
