The Villiera Barrel Fermented Chenin Blanc 2023 enchants with its enticing aromatic profile, featuring tropical fruits such as hints of pineapple, lively grapefruit, and ripe guava. This rich Chenin Blanc displays a full-bodied essence with a wonderfully creamy mouthfeel, enhanced by subtle oak spices. With careful barrel fermentation and aging, it gains added complexity that beautifully expresses the varietal's character.
Das Traubengut wurde zu 50% am ganzen Bund gepresst, während die anderen 50% komplett entrappt wurden und ca. vier Stunden auf der Haut verbrachten. Der Saft wurde über Nacht ruhen gelassen und anschließend im Fass fermentiert. Nach Abschluss der alkoholischen Gärung verbrachte der Wein noch weitere zehn Monate im Fass auf der Hefe, wobei der Wein regelmäßig auf- und untergerührt wurde (batonnage), um eine schöne Komplexität im Wein zu erhalten. Ein Drittel der eingesetzten Fässer machten Neuholz aus.
