Vergelegen, meaning 'far away', is a prestigious estate that produces its Vergelegen Shiraz Reserve 2020 only in select years, making it a rare find. Exhibiting a deep ruby hue, this noteworthy South African wine emanates a complex and rich profile. On the nose, enticing notes of mulberry, licorice, and sweet spices allure the senses, enhanced by hints of pepper and violets that dance on the palate. Subtle nuances of cinnamon and spices complemented by floral hints and plum notes lead to a juicy, balanced finish, characterized by lingering mulberry and ground pepper flavors.
All grapes were handpicked from Vergelegen's Rooiland vineyards, situated on northern to northwestern slopes. The fruit was fermentation in stainless steel tanks and aged for 16 months in 25% new French oak barrels.
