The Van Loveren Rhino Run Chenin Blanc masterfully balances fruity characteristics with a gentle oak influence. This sulfite-free varietal is committed to the conservation of the white rhino, featuring inviting aromas of ripe peaches and delicate floral undertones. These enticing notes carry through to the palate, where they merge with zesty citrus hints, revealing a medium-bodied wine with outstanding structure and balance. The lack of sulfur accentuates its expressive fruitiness, delivering a vibrant and invigorating experience.
The grapes were handpicked in the early morning. Following alcoholic fermentation in 100% oak staves, the wine aged with oak contact for an additional five months before being bottled fresh and fruit-driven. To create a sulfite-free wine, the Rhino Run series employs a South African tannin derived from the endemic Honeybush plant, which flourishes only in the southwestern regions of South Africa. This plant contains natural antioxidants that effectively protect the wine without the need for added sulfur.
