Product information "Thorne & Daughters Paper Kite Old Vine Semillon 2024"

The Thorne & Daughters Paper Kite Old Vine Semillon comes from a 61-year-old vineyard in Swartland. The wine displays spicy aromas of flint, thyme and lemongrass. On the palate, it is focused and broad, with an attack of lime, yellow apples and salted macadamia nuts, leading to a rich finish of meringue and nougat.

These old Semillon clones (including a tiny amount of Semillon Gris) are a true expression of South African Semillon. These special old vines produce full-bodied wines that are not always easy to define and can take many years to develop their full aromatic expression.

Treatment in the cellar The grapes are pressed in an old basket press and no sulphur dioxide is added to the juice. The wine undergoes natural alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in a mixture of new Austrian 500-litre barrels and smaller old oak barrels. The wines are bottled without fining or filtration to offer the most natural expression of Semillon from old vines.
