This exceptional biodynamic Thistle and Weed Knapsekêrel Cabernet Franc is sourced from the Oudeberg vineyard in the Polkadraai region of Stellenbosch, where it grows amidst Knapsekêrel weeds. The vineyard's proximity to the ocean provides refreshing breezes that contribute to the wine's distinctive character. The nose reveals complex aromas of thyme, violets, and blackberries, harmoniously elevated by concentrated plums and elegant minerality. A truly outstanding red wine experience!
Interestingly, Knapsekêrel also signifies “handsome man” in Afrikaans, and while commonly considered a weed, it serves as a nutritional and medicinal resource in numerous communities worldwide!
Natural fermentation is promoted, followed by eight months in older French oak barrels, with no filtration or fining, resulting in some sediment in the bottle.
