The Thelema Merlot Reserve captivates the senses with its deep, nearly inky red hue. It reveals an intense medley of raspberry, blackcurrant, cherry, strawberry, and a hint of baking spices on the nose. The wine boasts a robust and powerful structure, layered with complexity, featuring notes of cedar, sandalwood, and opulent fruit. Strong, yet harmonious tannins promise to soften over time, supported by well-integrated acidity, ensuring exceptional aging potential.
As a limited edition, this wine stands out among the finest Merlots from the Cape, exemplifying elegance and balance while offering a refined and approachable interpretation of its terroir.
The grapes for the Thelema Merlot Reserve were destemmed, hand-sorted, crushed, and pumped into stainless steel tanks, where they underwent a two-day cold soak and were gently punched down twice daily for three more days. Malolactic fermentation took place in wooden barrels, followed by 18 months of aging in 100% new French oak.
