The Winery of Good Hope Mountainside Syrah offers a captivating taste of Stellenbosch with its invigorating blend of fynbos and lavender aromatics, paired with ripe plum and spice undertones. The wine’s robust yet graceful texture delivers a sophisticated palate experience. Departing from the trend of overly fruity Shiraz, the Mountainside exemplifies a refined elegance.
The grapes for this Syrah were hand-harvested, crushed, destemmed, and subjected to a multi-day cold maceration phase in large stainless steel tanks. This was followed by a cool, spontaneous fermentation in steel. Subsequently, 50% of the wine matured for 14 months in third, fourth, and fifth fill French oak barrels. Finally, the steel-aged and oak-aged wines were blended and bottled.
