The Stellenrust Artisons The Mothership Chenin Blanc offers an enticing bouquet of honey, ripe and dried pears, white peach, and delicate melon notes. Sourced entirely from the original 1964 Bottelary vineyard in Stellenbosch, this Chenin Blanc serves as a sophisticated embodiment of the variety. Aptly named, The Mothership refers to this pristine mother parcel.
This award-winning Chenin Blanc from old bush vines is harvested at optimal ripeness, undergoing 6 to 12 hours of skin contact. It ferments slowly with wild yeasts in 2000-liter barrels and concrete eggs. After fermentation, it is transferred to concrete eggs for up to 12 months of aging on the lees.
