The Stellenbosch Reserve Chardonnay captures the essence of the region with its delightful floral aromas, including frangipani, fresh pear, lemon meringue, and a whisper of toast. This Chardonnay delivers a vibrant acidity that enhances its medium body, revealing delicious notes of citrus, peach, and delicate hints of brioche, winter melon, butter, and a touch of vanilla. Elegant oak nuances contribute subtle layers of butterscotch, enriching its complexity and fullness. The finish is beautifully savory, leaving a gentle impression of zesty lemon and a faint saline touch.
The grapes were hand-harvested, with 75% destemmed upon arrival at the winery. The remaining fruit was pressed whole-cluster. Fermentation occurred in both barrels and stainless steel tanks, with the yeast stirred bi-weekly to enhance complexity and richness. Partial malolactic fermentation was allowed, providing the wine with good structure and character. After fermentation, it aged for six months in French oak barrels (18% new wood).
