The Springfield Thunderchild is a refined red blend composed of 35% Cabernet Franc, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 30% Merlot. Exquisite aromas of ripe berries and juicy plums intertwine with fine oak notes. These captivating scents seamlessly continue on the balanced palate, where a firm yet gentle structure offers a juicy and elegant character.
Following the influenza epidemic of 1918, the community of Robertson established an orphanage, 'Die Herberg,' for abandoned and underprivileged children. In 2003, a five-hectare vineyard was planted on the orphanage grounds with all materials donated. This classic blend is produced free of charge by participating wineries to benefit children, who are now not only orphans but often come from distressed family backgrounds. The name Thunderchild - Children of the Storm symbolizes the 'storm' of life these children face early on. 100% of the grapes for this unique blend are grown on the orphanage grounds, and all profits are donated to the children, ensuring that only real costs are reimbursed.
Das Traubengut wurde bei optimalem Reifegrad gelesen und unzerquetscht als ganze Beere einer kalten Quellphase unterzogen, bevor es 10 Tage lang in offenen Fermentern vergoren wurde. Während des Fermentierungsprozesses wurde der Tresterhut zweimal täglich untergetaucht. Nach drei Wochen fand die alkoholische Gärung ihren Abschluss, worafuhin der Wein in ausgewählte Fässer gepresst wurde und anschließend der malolaktischen Gärung unterzogen wurde. Nach Abschluss der malolaktischen Gärung reifte der Wein 12 Monate lang in Barrique, bevor er ungefiltert auf die Flasche gefüllt wurde.
