The Spier Creative Block 5 Magnum 2016 captivates with a complex bouquet of ripe blackberries, luscious cherries, and bold black currants complemented by enticing hints of cedar, dark chocolate, and fennel spice. Its vibrant palate showcases remarkable balance and elegant, dense tannins. This blend is characterized by harmonious interplay of fruit, volume, wood, and tannins, while preserving the unique essence of each grape variety.
The grapes originate from both Darling on the West Coast and the renowned Stellenbosch region. A wine that leaves a lasting impression!
Treatment in the cellar
Hand-harvested and pre-cooled, the grapes were crushed and individually sorted to remove any unwanted berries. Fermentation took place for up to 21 days in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation and aging occurred for 18 months in 300-liter French oak barrels (60% new and the remainder second-fill). Each varietal was vinified individually to achieve its full potential, with careful barrel selection and cuvée blending guided by targeted tastings.
