Information about "Sijnn Red 2021"

In the glass, the Sijnn Red reveals an alluring deep red color that commands attention. The nose offers a fascinating bouquet of herbal Fynbos, ripe red plums, and earthy undertones that create a captivating complexity. This vibrant wine is marked by its refreshing acidity and surprising red fruit notes blending with olive brine and schist. On the palate, the mid-range delights with layers of cassis and blueberries, alongside an enticing range of spices. The dry finish compels the drinker to reach for more.

Composed of 39% Syrah/Shiraz, 18% Tinta Amarela, 18% Touriga Nacional, 11% Grenache Noir, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Mourvèdre, and 3% Carignan, this unique cuvée embraces the essence of its terroir. 'Sijnn' is inspired by the Khoisan word for 'riverbank,' pronounced 'sayn.'

These grapes are cultivated in Malgas along the Breede River, the only area in the region designated as 'Premier Cru.'

Treatment in the cellar

Handpicked and carefully sorted in the early morning, grapes were destemmed and placed in small oak barrels and stainless steel tanks for natural fermentation at 29°C. Skin contact lasted nine days, with pressing only once in a traditional basket press, followed by malolactic fermentation in oak.
