Rust en Vrede Estate 2021 embodies the essence of South Africa's wine heritage with its striking deep garnet color. Aromas of luscious mulberries interlace with cassis, cedar, and subtle notes of tobacco, offering a complex bouquet. The robust Cabernet Sauvignon lends strength to the blend, while vibrant red and black cherries dance with hints of black pepper, highlighting the Syrah's character. The palate is lush with Merlot fruit, accented by mocha, fruitcake, and leather, creating a tapestry of flavors. Seventy percent of the wine aged for 22 months in 300-liter French oak barrels, of which 40% was new wood; 40% matured in second-fill barrels; 20% in third-fill barrels; and 30% in 500-liter casks.
