The Radford Dale Vinum Pinotage masterfully embodies the distinctive character and essence of this exceptional South African grape. Originating from a 25-year-old vineyard in the Stellenbosch region, this wine showcases a deep purple shade with a striking ruby rim. Aromas of bright plums and luscious raspberries dance on the nose, underpinned by a delicate mineral freshness that invigorates the palate. Medium-bodied and completely dry, it reveals pure fruit flavors accompanied by finely textured tannins, culminating in a refreshing and clean finish.
In a move towards sustainability, Radford Dale bottles all Vinum wines in eco-friendly, lightweight glass (396 g) with recyclable screw caps.
Das Traubengut wurde als ganze Beere in hölzernen Gärbottichen mit einer Füllmenge von 600 l pro Fermenter spontan vergoren, um eine sanfte Extraktion von Farbe, Geschmacksnuancen und Tannin zu gewährleisten. Nach Abschluss der alkoholischen Gärung ging es in die Presse, wo der Wein mit großer Sorgfalt von der Haut getrennt und anschließend in kleine zweit-, dritt- sowie viertbefüllte Burgunder-Fässer (228 l und 300l) umgefüllt wurde, wo die malolaktische Fermentierung ihren Lauf nahm. Bei der Produktion dieses Pinotages kamen keine neuen Barriques zum Einsatz, um zu ermöglichen, dass die Rebsorte einher mit Textur und Komplexität trotzdem ihre ungemeine Frische zum vollen Ausdruck bringen kann.
