The Radford Dale Frankenstein Pinotage 2023 is anything but ordinary. Derived from 30-year-old vines, this Pinotage reveals a silky texture and remarkable balance, radiating elegance. Its intoxicating bouquet of juicy red berries embraces the senses, offering delightful freshness. The low yield contributes to an impressive fruit concentration that expresses South Africa's unique terroir.
Inspired by Dr. Abraham Perold, who created the Pinotage variety in 1925, this wine pays homage to his spirit of innovation. Much like Mary Shelley's Victor Frankenstein, who crafted a remarkable being from mismatched parts, this Pinotage celebrates the artistry of winemaking.
Die Trauben wurden handgelesen und in kleinen 20 Kg-Körben in die Kellerei transportiert, wo sie über Nacht gekühlt wurden. Am nächsten Morgen wurde das Traubengut handverlesen, woraufhin 50% komplett entrappt und als ganze Beere in Holzfermenter transferiert wurden, während der restliche Anteil gequetscht fermentierte. Nach Abschluss der Gärung wurde der Wein in der traditionellen Korbpresse abgepresst und in französische Barriques gefüllt, wo der Wein seinen Reifungsprozess beendete.
