In the glass, the Pilgrim Chenin Blanc 2023 reveals a radiant golden hue with green highlights. Aromatically, it is rich and vibrant, showcasing ripe stone fruits, white pear, and yellow peach, intertwined with the characteristic minerality of Swartland. Hints of fynbos, almonds, and nuanced citrus fruits add further complexity. The palate is broad and structured, maintaining an incredible freshness that promises longevity. This luxurious wine concludes with an extended, enjoyable finish, and is produced from exquisite 35-year-old vines nestled in the clay and sandstone soils of the Voor Paardeberg region.
The grapes were vinified in three separate batches, fermented and matured in French oak barrels (225L, 300L, 500L). After nine months of aging post-bottling, they were kept in the bottle for an additional nine months before release, ensuring a complete flavor development.
