Die Trauben, aus denen der Wein hergestellt wurde, wurden bei optimaler Reife von Hand gelesen und erhielten für eine optimale Farb- und Geschmacksextraktion einen längeren Kontakt auf der Haut, bevor sie zur Gärung in die Fässer abgefüllt wurden. Nach der Primärgärung durchlief der Wein die malolaktische Gärung im Fass, bevor er 18 Monate in den gleichen französischen Eichenfässern reifte (zweit- und drittbefüllt).
