Information about "Neil Ellis Rodanos 2021"
The Neil Ellis Rodanos is characterized by its intense dark hue and a captivating aroma of ripe dark and red berries, floral violet hints, and delicate pepper undertones. On the palate, expect luscious flavors of dark cherries and plums, leading to a long, spicy finish. The mouthfeel is generous, marked by a velvety texture and refined tannins.
The term Rodanos traces back to the Celtic name for the Rhône region in France, where Syrah and Grenache thrive.
The harvest commenced earlier than usual, starting on February 20 and extending into the third week of March. Grapes were picked at a must weight between 24.5 and 25.5°B, with a total acidity of 7 g/l and a pH of 3.4, yielding 3 to 6.5 tons per hectare. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, accompanied by a series of punchdowns and pump-overs until dry. A whole-bunch fermentation of 30% was employed.
The wine matured for 14 months in 500-liter French oak barrels, with 25% in new oak, 50% third-fill, and 25% in neutral wood.
