Longridge Organic Ou Steen Chenin Blanc 2024 showcases the elevated craftsmanship of Stellenbosch, taking inspiration from the esteemed Vouvray Demi-Sec wines of the Loire region. This organic Chenin Blanc dazzles with a bouquet of marmalade, orange blossoms, and luscious apricots, complemented by refreshing lime and a whisper of honeycomb. On the palate, the wine's vibrant acidity balances its sweet profile, leading to a finish that unravels notes of candied orange peel, grapefruit, and delicate vanilla. Crafted in limited, exceptional years, this wine reflects its unique terroir and promises wonderful aging potential.
The wine is pressed from whole grapes and fermented using wild yeast in mature French puncheons (300L barrels). It undergoes 10 to 12 months of aging in these barrels. In line with an ultra-natural, terroir-driven approach, the wine is made without enzymes and fining, bottled unfiltered. While it is enjoyable now, further aging is recommended, with improvements expected over the next ten years.
