The Lemberg Cape Blend 2023 showcases a harmonious interplay of fresh red fruit and spice elements. The Syrah grapes impart an abundance of flavors and intriguing spices that beautifully complement the tannins and structure of the Pinotage. Adding finesse, the Pinot Noir contributes delicate nuances. Remarkable hints of anise, raspberry, cinnamon, and dried orange peel complete the tasting experience. This blend comprises 42% Syrah, 36% Pinotage, 11% Pinot Noir, and 11% Grenache Noir.
The grapes for the Lemberg Cape Blend were harvested in the cool early morning, sorted, and underwent a 48-hour cold soak. Syrah fermented and matured in 5000 L French oak casks, while Pinotage and Mourvedre aged in previously used French barriques (225L, 300L, and 500L) after fermentation. After a 12-month aging period, all components were blended and aged for an additional two months in barrel before bottling.
