Information about "Kloovenburg Eight Feet White 2024"

Kloovenburg Eight Feet White is a masterfully crafted wine dedicated to the four children of the du Toit family, embodying their legacy through an exquisite cuvée. In the glass, the wine shimmers with a green-yellow hue that hints at its fresh vitality. The nose reveals an enchanting bouquet with delicate notes of white flowers, ripe citrus fruits and a hint of pâtisserie spices. Subtle nuances of pear, orange peel and lemon verbena add further aromatic complexity. On the palate, the wine is both lively and elegant, displaying a seamless balance of flavours. Fresh citrus fruits and juicy pear combine with nuances of orange peel, underpinned by a creamy texture that hints at skilful ageing in large concrete tanks. A mineral structure gives the wine backbone and finesse, culminating in a long, graceful finish. Kloovenburg Eight Feet White is a celebration of balance and craftsmanship, a wine that is both accessible and sophisticated, offering a story as fascinating as its flavour profile.

Treatment in the cellar All grapes were harvested by hand in the early hours of the morning and then cooled overnight in a temperature-controlled room at 5 °C. All components were harvested at different stages of ripeness to ensure a balanced final cuvée with good fruit purity, freshness, complexity and length. All components were pressed separately and as whole grapes. The free-run juice was then drained into a stainless steel tank to settle at 8 °C for 24 hours. No enzymes were used during the clarification process. The juice was transferred from the coarse lees into 2000-litre concrete tanks. The wine fermented naturally, which could take up to three months. No malolactic fermentation took place in order to preserve more of the natural acidity. After fermentation, a small dose of sulphur was added to the wine, after which it remained on the fine lees. The wine spent a total of seven months in concrete tanks before being blended and bottled.
