With its deep plum color, the Keermont Topside Syrah 2019 captivates with an enticing bouquet of black cherries, wisps of rose petals, and echoes of ripe strawberries alongside tea leaf nuances. The palate is both smooth and juicy, featuring a robust tannic backbone supporting the pronounced notes of red fruits and sandalwood. This wine's sumptuous finish balances aromatic fruit, bright acidity, and a firm structure.
Situated at 350 meters on the western slopes of the Stellenbosch mountain range, the Topside Syrah vineyards benefit from altitude and a unique blend of sandstone and granite soils, adding to the wine's spicy character and elegant tannin structure.
The hand-picked grapes for this masterful Syrah come exclusively from Keermont's own vineyards, vinified separately according to block and ripeness. Fermentation occurred naturally and gently in open fermenters. After fermentation, the wine matured for 20 months in French barriques (500 l) and was bottled by hand, unfiltered.
