Kanonkop derives its name from a 'Kopje' (little hill), where a cannon was discharged in the 17th century to signal farmers of approaching ships laden with goods, including bountiful wines.
The grapes for Kanonkop Kadette are sourced from vines aged between five and thirty years. After hand-picking and meticulous selection, the grapes underwent fermentation in open tanks with daily 'Punch Down' for three to five days. The wine matured for 12 months in used French Nevers oak barrels.
