Vineyard Hartenberg
14 km north of Stellenbosch is the Hartenberg winery.
It lies in its own secluded valley, which runs through clear spring water into an unspoiled wetland. This wetland occupies 65 ha of the 170 ha farm, and has never been cultivated before. And since nature conservation is very important at Hartenberg, it will stay that way.
Shiraz is the grape variety that has made Hartenberg famous. The estate is one of the oldest and leading Shiraz producers in South Africa with more than 40 years of experience. Not only is the Shiraz first class here at Hartenberg - with its Rhineriesling Hartenberg has once again made a name for itself with a gold medal at the 2012 Veritas Awards, one of South Africa's largest and most prestigious wine competitions.
