The Groot Constantia Gouverneurs Reserve White 2023 presents an exquisite composition with 40% Semillon and 60% Sauvignon Blanc, capturing the essence of South African terroir. Its fragrant bouquet features vibrant elderflower, alongside alluring flavors of ripe lychee and passion fruit, brightened by nuances of orange peel, lemon, and lime. On the palate, this well-structured wine reveals stone fruit notes with a delicate spice from French oak, and subtle hints of honey and almond. The balanced acidity ensures a refreshing mouthfeel, leading to an enduring and sophisticated finish.
Handpicked grapes were fermented in a blend of 50% new French oak barrels, 25% second-fill, and 25% third- and fourth-fill barrels. Following fermentation, the wine aged on its lees for ten months before bottling, with an additional twelve-month maturation in the bottle before release.
