Sourced from a critically acclaimed 1.3-hectare vineyard planted in 1994 on Schapenberg—the birthplace of commercial Pinotage—this wine brings forth an enchanting and sophisticated profile. Its vibrant crimson hue hints at the bold flavors of sour cherries, complemented by earthy undertones and spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. The seamless integration of tannins ensures exquisite balance throughout. Limited to just 580 bottles, this wine is a true testament to the legacy of Pinotage!
Diese kleine Parzelle liegt nur 6 Km von der False Bay Küste entfernt an einem steilen, erhöhten und kühleren Hang. Die Böden sind steinig und gut entwässert und daher ertragsarm. Sie sind jedoch auch gesegnet mit einem tiefem rot/gelben Tonuntergrund gesegnet, der eine gute Feuchtigkeitsspeicherung ermöglicht. Vergoren am ganzen Bund mit wilder Hefe in einem kleinen offenen Eichenholz-Fermenter, verblieb 25 Tage auf den Schalen und Stielen, bevor es in einer Korbpresse abgepresst wurde und in älteren Barriques für eine Reifezeit von 24 Monaten umgepumpt wurde. Ohne Filtration und mit minimaler SO2-Zugabe abgefüllt.
