The Ernie Els Signature 2022 captivates with a rich ruby color, offering lush, mature fruit harmonized with cinnamon and intricate spice notes. This exceptional blend showcases blackcurrants and cherries enriched by hints of cocoa powder, vanilla, and plums—creating a luxurious holiday cake sensation. Secondary notes of thyme and tobacco lift this blend, complemented by delicate Fynbos elements. Remarkably rounded tannins enhance this impressive wine, which is full-bodied, traditional, velvety, and dry, defining its powerful character.

The fruit tannins are well-integrated, delivering a long, delightful finish that resonates on the palate. The grapes are sourced entirely from Ernie Els Wines, flourishing on the warm northern slopes of the Helderberg region in the Stellenbosch appellation.

Treatment in the cellar

Harvested in the early hours, the grapes were meticulously sorted and destemmed. Fermentation occurred in open steel fermenters. The wine matured for 18 months in French oak barrels (50% new), with a small portion (15%) aged in terracotta amphorae.

Cabernet Sauvignon 60%, Merlot 25%, Cabernet Franc 5%, Malbec 5%, and Petit Verdot 5%.
