The De Krans Touriga Nacional 2023 showcases a dark plum color, revealing a bouquet of dense and intense aromas of dark berries, aromatic violets, and cacao, accented by sweet dark cherries, plums, white pepper, and roasted oak. On the palate, it is notably full-bodied with a well-balanced, complex flavor array of black currants, dried plums, cherry cigar, violets, and dark chocolate in the finish. Its smooth tannin structure, paired with its highly concentrated fruit, indicates excellent aging potential and fine drinking pleasure.
The grapes were destemmed and crushed immediately, cooling them in open fermenters. Selected yeasts were introduced to initiate fermentation, followed by pressing the skins. After the alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation occurred. The wine then matured for 12 months in fourth and fifth fill French oak barrels.
