Cirrus Wines draw inspiration from the clouds that grace the skies above the high-altitude vineyards of the Witzenberg mountains on the Ceres Plateau. The Cirrus Pinot Noir 2022 marks the third vintage sourced from this remarkable vineyard located at 1026 meters above sea level. The temperate summers, snowy winters, and intense sunlight create a climate that yields a truly distinctive South African Pinot Noir.
This wine enchants with lively aromas of ripe red cherries, cranberry, and lingonberry, complemented by a hint of cotton candy and subtle mint alongside earthy vanilla notes. It unfolds softly on the palate with delicate tannins balanced by vibrant acidity and a fresh, floral berry finish.
Approximately 70% of the grapes are fermented whole-bunch, preserving pure fruit aromas and intensity, while the remaining 30% are crushed for gentle tannin extraction. Aging occurs in 500-liter French oak barrels for 14 months, imparting structure, complexity, and aging potential.
