The Bouchard Finlayson Crocodile's Lair Kaaimansgat Chardonnay 2024 reveals an enticing aroma of mineral spices and blooming stone fruits. Its palate bursts with vibrant lime and crisp green apple, complemented by a well-balanced finish that showcases its complexity. Hailing from the unique terroir of Kaaimansgat, nestled in a secluded valley just 80 km from Hermanus, the grapes thrive at 700 meters above sea level, allowing for a slow and expressive maturation.
Das Traubengut wurde bei optimalem Reifegrad gelesen und bei Ankunft in der Kellerei leicht gequetscht. Anschließend fermentierte es in Fässern aus 20% neuer französischer Eiche, wo der Wein nach Abschluss der Fermentierung weitere acht Monate reifte.

Authentisch
Nachdem ich einige Chardonnays in Südafrika probiert habe bin ich im pop up Store des Winzers in Hermanuns auf diesen gestoßen und nach entsprechender Verköstigung auch direkt bestellt. Ein wirklich feiner Wein mit der für meinen Geschmack richtigen Mischung aus Holz, nicht zu viel aber auch nicht zu wenig. Vom Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ein ganz hervorragender Chardonnay.
