The Boschkloof Syrah presents a captivating bouquet filled with complex notes of oriental spices, elegant violets, and a hint of white pepper. Enticing aromas of red fruits envelop the palate, leading to a harmonious structure with spicy undertones and a prolonged finish. This wine embodies a classic style that distinctly expresses the character of the Rhône region.
The grapes are sourced from Boschkloof’s vineyards, comprising the Syrah clones SH 99 and SH 21, meticulously hand-harvested. The yield was a modest 6 tons per hectare. Natural fermentation without added yeast was employed. Post-alcoholic fermentation, the grapes underwent 11 days of skin contact, with malolactic fermentation taking place in barrels. Careful maturation occurred over 14 months in 10% new French 400-liter barrels, with only minimal filtration prior to bottling.
