Boschendal Estate Franschhoek Wine Farm
A heritage-led winery known for its hospitality and its dedication to Cap Classique
Founded in 1685, Boschendal Estate remains a working wine farm in the Franschhoek Valley, with vineyards set against the dramatic Simonsberg range. Estate-grown fruit is cultivated according to sustainable and regenerative farming practices.
Cover crops, biodiversity corridors and carefully timed harvesting shape the estate’s viticultural approach. In the cellar, contemporary methods translate this vineyard precision into balanced, site-expressive wines.
The portfolio includes Cap Classique, expressive Chenin Blanc and structured red wines crafted for food pairing. Boschendal seamlessly integrates wine production with on-site dining and authentic rural hospitality.

Vineyard Boschendal
Boschendal ranks among the Cape’s oldest agricultural estates, with continuous wine production dating back to the seventeenth century. Its vineyards extend across varied slopes and elevations in Franschhoek, enabling precise cultivar selection according to soil depth, structure and exposure.
Decomposed granite and sandy loam soils promote moderate vine vigour and even ripening. Cooling maritime airflow from False Bay tempers the summer heat, preserving acidity and aromatic definition in white varieties while supporting tannin development and structure in reds.
In the cellar, Boschendal employs controlled fermentation, gentle extraction and carefully calibrated oak ageing to preserve varietal clarity and balance. Traditional method sparkling wines undergo extended lees maturation, enhancing mousse texture and aromatic complexity.
Beyond wine production, the estate features several restaurants, farm shops and landscaped gardens, positioning Boschendal as both a leading producer and a comprehensive visitor destination within the Cape Winelands.
