After 25 years of visiting the area, we thought we knew the key spots. However, we were mistaken, as new openings continuously surprise us. Some are better, some less so – but never are they bad. Today, we introduce you to one such striking new establishment.

With the centuries-old operation “Vrymansfontein”, our partner Vondeling has taken over not just a historic farm, but has also crafted a wonderful place for extraordinary experiences in the Winelands near Paarl. Nestled near the former hotspot Spice Route, a stunning new restaurant gem with breathtaking views has been created.

Initially planned as a soft opening in November, it quickly attracted a surge of guests now needing reservations, particularly on weekends.

Situated under shaded oak trees, to the right upon entry is the Tree Bar, a family-friendly outdoor terrace perfect for groups that appreciate good food and wine. At the restaurant “Scape”, a refined culinary experience awaits, with each dish harmonizing exquisite flavors meant to be enjoyed collectively. The menu traverses the Mediterranean with fresh seafood, succulent meats, and vibrant seasonal dishes. The extensive wine list features not only Vondeling wines but also a fine selection of other prestigious Cape wines, enhanced by custom wine pairings.
