The Mint: Resurrection of a Cape Legend
Magazin | Journal Südafrikanisches Weingut, Rotwein Südafrika, Südafrika
We hope you've enjoyed a wonderful week and are excited about news from the home of the finest wines.
Today, we have a synchronized global premiere for you.
The “Thelema The Mint Cabernet Sauvignon” is back!
Following the 2014 harvest, Gyles Webb decided to uproot this unique vineyard to combat the feared leaf roll virus, leading to the disappearance of this legend from the market and leaving many fans heartbroken.
Now, we eagerly await the first vintage from the vineyard replanted in 2016 after a regenerational pause.
This legendary land is already producing exceptional grapes once again, breathing new life into this uniquely minty Cape legend.
The distinct minty aroma comes from a series of eucalyptus trees that line the vineyard. Their scent is absorbed through the grape skins and reveals its delicate fragrance post-vinification.
To be well-prepared, we conducted our own tasting experiment, and our perception is that the 2021 vintage holds its ground against the 2014.
As extraordinary as some wines from older vines can be, what this mountain displays even in its youth ranks among our Cape highlights and symbolizes a bright future ahead.
Look forward to this wonderful drop.
As a customer of South African Wine Shipping, you stand in excellent position, as we will start the deliveries in collaboration with the winery on September 1st.
You can order this wine starting today, with delivery scheduled for Friday.
To celebrate this proverbial rebirth, you will find The Mint and several other Thelema wines in the shop available at an introductory price.
