Duncan's journey begins in Pretoria, leading us on an exciting adventure from Johannesburg through Kimberley to Rondebosch, where his parents still reside. He studied various subjects, but his true passion lay in wine!

Duncan's love for wine ignited when he hid bottles in his dorm room – now that’s what we call a cozy wine cellar! He redirected his path, joining the wine industry to study viticulture at Elsenburg. Swiftly, he advanced and rode through 11 vintages of Savage Wines. Currently, he doesn’t own vineyards; his work exclusively on leased land suits him perfectly. His talent for handling vines is pure magic.

His former assistant, Kiara Scott, spilled a secret: Duncan’s work ethic is unmatched! From vineyards to cellar, he crafts eight wines that tell stories from 14 unique terroirs. He began at Cape Point Vineyards, falling in love with Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Rosa Kruger, the old-vine pioneer, has guided his viticultural journey.

2022 introduced a new layer to Duncan's winemaking. Extreme weather posed fresh challenges, and Duncan met them with meticulous care. Sorting grapes became an art, where 52 hands treated each berry like a treasure. The outcome? Wines that exceed expectations, bursting with freshness and purity. Unicorn vineyards and future dreams: Duncan envisions a unicorn vineyard on the renowned Karibib farm. Additionally, he acts as a mentor, creator, and market explorer, while dreaming of a Cabernet project. He is an unstoppable force shaping the South African wine landscape.
