The Beyerskloof Synergy Cape Blend 2023 is a stunning marriage of four grape varieties, harmonizing with the unique characteristics of diverse terroirs and microclimates. This wine spent 14 months in French oak, resulting in an impressive purplish-red color with ruby edges. The high proportion of Pinotage (52%) results in enticing aromas of ripe berry fruits, dark cherries, sweet cedar, and intriguing oak notes. With vines averaging 20-22 years old, the palate reveals a concentrated fruit core, juicy tannins, and perfectly integrated wood nuances, achieving a sublime balance between luxurious fruit and aromatic elegance. This blend exemplifies how the best traits of Pinotage can be beautifully enhanced by complementary varietals.
Extended skin contact at 26°C fosters the wine's vibrant purplish hue, complemented by regular punchdowns during fermentation. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine matured in 5% new French oak and 95% in second and third-fill barrels for 12 months.
This blend comprises 52% Pinotage, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 7% Shiraz.
