The Bellingham Bernard Series Old Vine Chenin Blanc embodies the essence of its cool climate terroir, radiating extraordinary aromas of stone fruits, pineapple, and delicate hints of ripe lime and orange marmalade, accompanied by undertones of cedar and fine oak spices. The palate is rich and lively, featuring pronounced nuances of green apple that persist through the finish, providing delightful drinking pleasure. The grapes were harvested in two phases by hand, with the first portion undergoing natural fermentation in a mix of oak barrels, concrete tanks, and clay amphorae, creating a wonderfully fruity bouquet. The later-harvested, riper grapes were also naturally fermented in older barrels, contributing to a rich mouthfeel. After fermentation, the wines aged for 10 months with regular batonnage before blending and bottling. This wine was matured in concrete tanks, clay amphorae, and foudres (2500L).
